PLAYER GUIDE

Neon Blitz Power-Ups

Every pickup activates as soon as your orb reaches it. Learn the exact effect, duration, and best use for all eight power-ups without risking a run for the wrong reward.

Collection, timing, and repeat pickups

Power-ups appear inside the arena and activate on contact; there is no inventory or manual activation. An uncollected pickup remains for 12 seconds of active play before disappearing. Pausing freezes that countdown and every active power-up timer.

A new pickup appears at every wave transition, and additional pickups spawn during a wave on a timer that becomes shorter as the wave number rises. Shield and Rapid Fire each have twice the normal weight in the standard pickup pool. Extra Life joins the pool only while you have fewer than three lives.

Collecting a timed power-up that is already active resets it to its full duration; it does not add the new duration to the time remaining. Different timed effects can run together, and their remaining time carries through a wave transition.

Protection and control

Shield — 8 seconds

Shield blocks life-losing damage for its full timer; hits do not consume charges or shorten the duration. A blocked hit preserves your combo and the wave’s no-damage bonus. Hostile projectiles disappear when they strike the shield, while colliding with a regular enemy destroys that enemy and awards its normal elimination points. Boss contact is blocked, but it does not destroy the boss.

Use it when: the arena is crowded, your combo is valuable, or a boss pattern leaves little room. The protection can make a necessary escape route safer, but it is still better to avoid being surrounded when the timer ends.

Slow motion — 7 seconds

Slow Motion reduces moving hostile projectiles to 45% of their normal travel and slows regular-enemy movement and behavior even more. It does not slow the wave timer, active power-up timers, boss movement, boss attacks, or Void Core’s pull.

Use it when: regular enemies and projectile lanes are closing in. It buys movement space during waves, but do not expect a boss warning or attack cycle to last longer.

Weapons and supporting fire

Rapid fire — 9 seconds

Rapid Fire cuts the main auto-fire interval from 0.22 seconds to 0.095 seconds and raises every player-shot hit from 1 damage to 2. The damage increase also applies to shots created by Triple Shot and the Combat Drone while both effects overlap.

Use it when: a shielded or high-health target needs sustained damage, especially during a boss’s safer movement window. Keep moving—the faster weapon does not reduce incoming danger.

Triple shot — 10 seconds

Each main auto-fire volley launches the normal center shot plus two full-damage shots angled 0.13 radians to either side. Triple Shot does not turn the drone’s single supporting shot into three, but it combines with Rapid Fire’s faster volleys and double shot damage.

Use it when: regular enemies are spread across the arena or a large target can catch more than one line of fire. Wider coverage is useful, but your blaster still chooses the target automatically.

Combat drone — 12 seconds

The drone follows beside your orb and fires one supporting shot every 0.42 seconds while a target exists. It uses the same priority as the main blaster: the boss first, otherwise the nearest regular enemy. Rapid Fire doubles the drone shot’s damage; Triple Shot does not duplicate it.

Use it when: you want dependable extra boss damage or help clearing nearby enemies without changing your movement plan.

Immediate effects

Nova bomb — immediate

Nova clears every regular enemy and hostile projectile currently in the arena. Each regular enemy is awarded as a real elimination, so every one raises the combo before its points are calculated; an active Score Multiplier also doubles those elimination points. Splitters cleared by Nova do not leave their usual swarm pair behind.

During a boss encounter, Nova also removes 18% of the boss’s maximum HP, rounded up. That reduction is applied directly to health and leaves any boss shield intact. Nova does not award the boss-defeat reward by itself.

Use it when: projectiles, mines, or summoned enemies have taken away your safe route. Against Void Core or Infinity Overlord, it can reduce health without first removing their shield.

Extra life — immediate

Extra Life restores one life, up to the three-life cap. It can enter the spawn pool only while you are below three lives. If you collect a previously spawned Extra Life after returning to three lives, it awards a flat 1,000 points instead.

Use it when: you can reach it without spending another life. The effect is immediate, so there is no benefit in delaying once the route is safe.

Score multiplier — 10 seconds

The Score Multiplier doubles points from regular-enemy eliminations. It also applies when Shield contact destroys an enemy and when Nova clears regular enemies. It does not double survival ticks, boss rewards, wave-clear rewards, perfect-wave bonuses, near-miss points, or the 1,000-point Extra Life overflow.

Use it when: several regular enemies are available and you can keep your combo alive. It is less valuable after normal spawns stop for a boss unless that boss summons regular enemies.

Build useful combinations

  • Rapid Fire + Triple Shot: combines faster volleys, three-shot coverage, and 2 damage per projectile.
  • Rapid Fire + Drone: doubles the damage of both the main weapon and the drone while Rapid Fire lasts.
  • Shield + Score Multiplier: turns regular-enemy shield collisions into protected, doubled elimination rewards.
  • Nova + Score Multiplier: scores every cleared regular enemy at double elimination points while building the combo through the group.
  • Slow Motion + any weapon boost: creates more room to keep firing, but it does not slow a boss or extend another power’s timer.
