PILOT FIELD MANUAL

How to Play Neon Blitz

Guide your neon orb through escalating enemy formations. Your blaster handles targeting; your job is to move, read the arena, collect the right power-ups, and survive.

Objective

Stay alive, destroy enemies, and push your score as high as possible. A run begins at Wave 1, introduces a boss every fifth wave, and continues beyond the 30 authored waves in an increasingly difficult endless rift.

Controls and movement

Mouse and touch

Move the pointer or drag on the game area. The orb follows your position. Touch input uses the same direct movement system and the page locks scrolling while a run is active.

Keyboard

Use WASD or the arrow keys to move. Press Escape or the on-screen pause button to pause, change settings, resume, or end the run.

Auto-fire and enemies

The auto-blaster targets the nearest threat, so there is no separate fire button. Keep a safe route open while it works. Eleven enemy families appear across the wave plan, including chasers, interceptors, tanks, splitters, snipers, teleporters, orbiters, mine layers, shielded units, swarms, and kamikaze attackers.

Waves and bosses

Each wave has its own enemy mix, pace, and possible arena modifier. Bosses arrive on Waves 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30. Warning lines and movement changes signal dangerous attacks; learn the pattern before committing to a narrow gap.

Power-ups

Shield

Absorbs incoming damage for a limited time.

Slow motion

Temporarily slows hostile movement.

Nova bomb

Clears immediate arena pressure.

Rapid fire

Increases blaster fire rate.

Extra life

Restores a lost life when possible.

Triple shot

Expands each volley to cover more space.

Combat drone

Adds temporary supporting fire.

Score multiplier

Boosts points earned while active.

Scoring, combos, and difficulty

Destroying enemies, surviving, clearing waves, defeating bosses quickly, making near misses, and completing a wave without damage all contribute to the score. Quick consecutive eliminations build the combo multiplier; taking damage resets it. Rookie is more forgiving, Arcade is the standard balance, and Nightmare raises the danger and the score reward.

Global leaderboard

Enter a callsign before each first run on a device. Completed online runs are checked against their server-created session and submitted to the worldwide leaderboard. Today, This Week, and All Time views show each pilot’s best eligible score for the selected period. If the service is unavailable, the game remains playable and keeps local progress.

Tips for a better score

  • Move early instead of waiting for a projectile to reach the orb.
  • Preserve open space; chasing one pickup into a crowded corner can cost a life.
  • Use brief power-ups during dense waves or boss phases rather than immediately.
  • Balance aggressive near misses with the value of a no-damage wave bonus.
  • Try each difficulty after learning the early enemy patterns.
